Xavier University's men's basketball team picked up a new player Saturday night from the transfer portal.
Gardner-Webb graduate transfer Nate Johnson, who is immediately eligible for the upcoming 2020-21 season, committed to the Musketeers and he made that commitment without visiting Xavier's campus or meeting the coaching staff in person.
Because of the current NCAA restrictions related to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Johnson was given a virtual tour of Xavier's campus by head coach Travis Steele.
"From the start, I knew I wasn't going to be able to make any visits before making a decision cause I knew with this virus going on it would just take too long," said Johnson, who's originally from Miami, Florida.
