The Crosstown Shootout is the best in-city rivalry in college basketball, for all the obvious reasons and a few not so obvious:
Big brother, little brother, five miles apart. Public school resources, private school intimacy. Bigger than thou versus holier than thou. Beyond big generalizations, though, there is this:
Big-shoulders defense against lightning-strike offense. Intimidation versus strategy. Xavier and UC play different games and have at least since Bob Huggins arrived. The Shootout is as much about style as stereotypes.
