Chris Mack is now a three-time national coach of the year.
The seventh-year Xavier coach on Tuesday was named CBS Sports National Coach of the Year, an honor also bestowed by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and Basketball Times magazine.
Mack, the first national coach of the year in Xavier annals, took a team unranked in the preseason to a 28-6 (14-4 Big East) record and program-best No. 5 spot in the Associated Press Top 25. The Musketeers reached a program-high No. 4 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Mack, 162-77 (.678) at XU, ranks second all-time in career wins at Xavier.
