Brutal collapse costs Xavier in overtime loss to Butler in Big East Tournament

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Xavier's men's basketball team collapsed in devastating fashion on Wednesday night in an overtime loss to Butler, 89-82, in the first round of the Big East Conference Tournament at Madison Square Garden.

It's the third straight season Xavier's been on the NCAA Tournament bubble and lost in the first round of the conference tournament. It's the second year in a row Xavier's lost to Butler in overtime with its season on the line.

Xavier led Butler 66-60 with 52 seconds left in regulation when everything went wrong.

The Musketeers went 1-for-7 at the foul line in the closing minutes of regulation and finished 13-for-29 at the line.
