Alabama took a one run lead in the second and added four runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead into the fifth, where the Tide extended it to a 6-0 lead. Xavier led off the sixth inning with singles from and , and hit a one-out single to bring Housinger home, cutting the lead to 6-1. With two outs and two on, doubled down the left field line to bring Franzoni home and make it a 6-2 score.
