AUSTIN, Texas - Xavier baseball took an early lead on No. 13 Texas, but a five-run inning for the Longhorns erased the Musketeer advantage in the fifth inning, sending the game to the ninth with XU down four. Xavier made a late push but fell just short in its comeback bid, falling, 6-5, in the second of three games in Austin.
Xavier took a two-run lead on scores in the first and the fourth innings. Texas scored five in the fifth to take the lead, and added an insurance run in the eighth to send the game to the ninth with Texas leading 6-2.
