QUEENS, N.Y. - Xavier baseball dropped the series opener, 8-6, against St. John's after a big seventh inning put the Red Storm ahead late on Friday evening at Jack Kaiser Stadium. The Musketeers move to 30-20 overall on the season and 11-5 in BIG EAST play.
Xavier took the 2-0 lead in the third after Teddy Deters led off the inning with a single, followed by a home run to right for Matthew DePrey.
St. John's scored three in the fourth to take the 3-2 lead into the seventh where Xavier scored three runs on two hits with four walks in the inning.
