BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Xavier baseball got in a big hole early, battling back but ultimately falling 10-7 to Samford on Friday in a weekend opener at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
The Musketeers fell to 0-4 to start the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 2-2.
XU hit five home runs in the game after being held without a longball in last weekend's season-opening series at No. 7 UNC.
• Xavier returns to action on Saturday, facing Samford in game two of the series at 1 p.m. ET. Sophomore Nick Zwack will get the ball for the Musketeers.
