NEW YORK CITY — Xavier men's basketball escaped Madison Square Garden with a narrow win against St. John's on Sunday, but it came at a great cost.
It was a much-needed road victory, and just the second true road win of the year for the Musketeers.
But Xavier (15-6, 5-3 Big East) saw star sophomore guard Edmond Sumner tear his left-knee ACL in the game, and he will undergo surgery in the near future, the team announced Monday afternoon.
The play on which Sumner was injured looked bad in real-time and in replays.
