The University of Wyoming wrestling season ended Friday as the Cowboys failed to advance anyone past the consolation rounds at the NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh.
Even though none of the seven UW wrestlers finished their season on the podium, head coach Mark Branch was pleased with his team's effort.
"It was a really good season and gives us a lot to be optimistic about and a lot to build on," Branch said in a release. "It was really a surprising season. These guys really showed a lot of heart and a lot of fight all year."
Wyoming qualified seven wrestlers for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2013 and its 16 dual wins were the most since the 1966-67 team won 17.
