Wyoming track and field teams win 12 events at Tom Benich Classic

Wyoming's Ja'la Henderson won both the 100-meter dash and the long jump Saturday to highlight UW's showing at the Tom Benich Classic in Greeley, Colorado.

Henderson, a freshman, won the 100 in 11.93 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 5.25 inches. Both marks were personal bests.

Also finishing first for the Cowgirls were Gillette's Quinn DeStefano (1,500 in 4:39), Laramie's Cassidy Meade (800 in 2:11), Jackson's Catherine Cloetta (steeplechase in 11:09.36) and McKenzie Brogan (400 hurdles in 1:00.60).

For the Cowboys, in-state throwers Tyler Anderson (Lovell) and Garrett Lynch (Powell) took top honors with Anderson winning the hammer throw with a toss of 198-6 and Lynch the shot put with a mark of 52-9.
