LARAMIE — Wyoming volleyball coach Chad Callihan had been hoping for a quick start from his team.
His wish came true Saturday evening when the Cowgirls reeled off six straight points to open their 25-20, 29-27, 25-27, 25-16 victory over Butler at the UniWyo Sports Complex.
The victory improved UW’s record to 3-0 while clinching the Rumble in the Rockies tournament title.
“Finally,” Chad Callihan said, grinning. “I thought we looked really good at the beginning of the match.”
He wasn’t totally pleased, though.
UW needed to fight off a pair of set points in the second frame, and it later wasted a set-point opportunity in the third game after overcoming a 21-14 deficit.
