Wyoming scored the first three goals of the second half and held on for a 3-2 victory over San Diego State in the Mountain West opener for both teams Friday in Laramie.
After a scoreless first half, the Cowgirls (4-2-3, 1-0-0 MW) got on the board in the 50th minute when Summer Taube notched her first goal of the season off an assist from Amber Vokoun. Jamie Tatum made it 2-0 just 3 minutes later and Michaela Stark completed the scoring for the Cowgirls with an unassisted goal in the 80th minute.
The Aztecs (1-6-1, 0-1-0 MW) avoided the shutout with back-to-back goals in the 83rd minute.
