Tom Johnson to retire as Wyoming swimming coach after 19 seasons

Tom Johnson, who has coached the Wyoming men's and women's swimming and diving teams since the 1998-99 season, announced Tuesday he is retiring at the end of the season.

A four-year letterwinner for the Cowboys (1982-95), Johnson has been named the conference coach of the year four times and has coached 34 conference champions (Mountain West and Western Athletic Conference) and five first-team All-Americans.

In addition, Johnson helped then-UW junior Scott Usher reach the 2004 Olympics in the 200-meter breaststroke, where he finished seventh competing for the United States.
