The 18th-ranked University of Wyoming wrestling team split two matches Saturday at the South Beach Duals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Cowboys began the day with a 22-21 criteria victory over No. 4 North Carolina State. The teams actually finished tied at 21-all, but Wyoming got the win thanks to pinfalls from Cole Verner (Green River) at 125 pounds and Brian Andrews at heavyweight.
It was the Cowboys' first victory over a Top-10 opponent since 2012 and marked the highest-ranked win in program history.
"Obviously, we had a huge win this morning," UW head coach Mark Branch said.
