University of Wyoming senior Scott Carter finished third in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday in Eugene, Oregon with a jump of of 16.24 meters or 53-feet, 3½ inches.
Carter's finish was the highest for a Cowboy at the championship meet since 2000.
With distance runner Audra DeStefano, it is the first time since 2004 that Wyoming had both a Cowboy and Cowgirl earn All-American honors in the same year.
Carter was the top performer from the first flight and was just under 3 inches ahead of fourth-place finisher Hayden McClain from Oklahoma.
