On the eve of the 116th “Border War” between the Wyoming Cowboys and Colorado State Rams, both programs’ athletic directors came together at the running of the Bronze Boot trophy and announced that both teams will continue scheduling an annual matchup amongst each other amidst conference realignment.
Starting in 2026, the Rams will be making the move to the newly rebuilt Pac-12 conference while the Cowboys remain in the Mountain West for the foreseeable future. While the two teams are still trying to iron out their schedules to make room for the rivalry in 2026 and 2027, the Border War has been officially renewed from 2028 through 2035.
