On Sunday afternoon, the No. 7 University of Minnesota women’s hockey team upset the No. 1 University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association title game.
It didn’t help the Badgers that the WCHA Final Face-Off was held in Minneapolis.
On their way to the conference championship game, the Badgers beat Bemidji State University with ease in a 4-1 warm-up.
Going into Sunday’s match against Minnesota, Wisconsin had won all four games between the two conference foes this season. Though judging by the single goal margin separating the teams in each game, it isn’t at all shocking that something had to give.
