A future that includes revenue sharing with University of Wisconsin athletes also means fewer of them playing for the Badgers.
Those are some of the elements Wisconsin is preparing for as a result of a pending settlement of antitrust cases that will reshape college sports.
Athletic director Chris McIntosh said there will be 80 to 100 fewer Badgers athletes as part of roster limits that are due to replace scholarship caps. The number of scholarships awarded also will decrease, he said in an exclusive interview with BadgerExtra.

But McIntosh gave an optimistic view of the future that he said will be guided by three principles: maintaining strong ties to academics, being competitive athletically and sustaining the department's existing 23 sports even though some may have be smaller in roster size and budget.
