On Thursday night, the Wisconsin Badgers men’s soccer team picked up their first win of the season, taking down the No. 21 Ohio State Buckeyes 1-0 at McClimon Field in Madison.
The deciding goal came late for the Badgers, with Michael Wampler finding the back of the net in the 87th minute. His poked finish came via Noah Melick, who sent in a perfectly placed cutback from the touchline after controlling a long ball from Ben Leas and sprinting past an Ohio State defender.
The goal, the first of Wampler’s career, would be Wisconsin’s last chance of the day, but it was all they needed.
