With the first week of college football in the books, both the Wisconsin football program and the New Mexico Lobos started the young season with a win. Wisconsin took care of business at home against Western Kentucky while New Mexico beat Incarnate Word in a high-scoring game.
The Badgers are the favorites to win the Big Ten West and are expected to compete for a Big Ten title and also a spot in the College Football Playoff. Their Heisman candidate running back Jonathan Taylor looked the part, shredding the Hilltoppers for 145 yards on just 18 carries.
