Redshirt sophomore safety Scott Nelson announced via Twitter on Saturday night that his season is over due to a left leg injury. Nelson got hurt in the third quarter of Wisconsin’s 49-0 victory over South Florida in Week 1 and was listed as “out” on Week 2’s injury report that the Badgers put out.
In limited action this year, Nelson had four tackles and one pass breakup. In 2018, he had 41 tackles, one pick, one forced fumble and seven passes defended. Despite being an underclassman, Nelson was poised to be one of the leaders of a young secondary that was looking to make up for its mistakes in 2018.
