From walk-on to the Big Ten’s best, Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Joe Schobert was named the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year on Monday and was honored with the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year Award, named after Big Ten greats Dick Butkus of Illinois and Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern.

Schobert has been one of the most important players for the Badgers this season, as he and the Badgers defense have kept Wisconsin in many games this season. He becomes the second Wisconsin Badgers linebacker to win the award, joining Chris Borland, who won the award in 2013.
