Our final installment looking at the 2016 Wisconsin football roster is an in-depth analysis of the special teamers for the Badgers heading into next season.
The Badgers have one major special teamer to replace, punter Drew Meyer. Meyer leaves the Badgers having played in 54 games, punting 256 times for a total of more than 10,000 yards. Meyer averaged 39.6 yards per punt on his career, and punted 50-plus yards 39 times in his career. He landed punts inside the 20 yard line 100 times in his career.
Without Meyer on the roster in 2016, the Badgers need a new punter, and aren’t likely to turn to the most experienced punter on the roster, as that is Bart Houston, who punted seven times in 2014 (He’ll be busy trying to lock down the starting quarterback job).
