New York — In August 2013, the Wisconsin's men's basketball team traveled to Canada and played five games in eight days against some of the country's top competition. The Badgers also were allowed to have 10 practices that summer.
With six incoming freshmen and only one senior on its roster, the time abroad helped UW become accustomed to each other on and off the court. Eight months later, the Badgers advanced to the Final Four for only the third time in school history.
On Friday night after never leading in a 71-61 loss to Georgetown in the 2K Classic at Madison Square Garden, UW coach Bo Ryan said he wished the Badgers could have had a similar overseas trip this past summer.
