Led by an impressive performance on the ground, the Wisconsin Badgers ran by the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the way to a 31-21 win, keeping Paul Bunyan’s Axe for the 12th straight season.
The win marked the 19th time in the past 21 years the Badgers have taken home the axe.
After a Joel Stave interception turned into 7 points for Minnesota on the Badgers’ first offensive play of the game, the badgers changed up the strategy and pounded the rock. Wisconsin ran for 199 yards and four scores on the ground,scoring three touchdowns in the second quarter after a 7-7 first quarter on the way to a 28-14 halftime lead.
