Barry Alvarez is getting a raise for his 15th full season as the University of Wisconsin athletic director.
Alvarez will make $1.175 million in 2018-19 and start getting lump-sum payouts of $375,000 on Jan. 1 each year until 2022 under a modified compensation agreement he signed in February.
He is making $1.15 million this school year — $500,000 in base salary and $650,000 on an additional compensation agreement that has climbed by $25,000 each year.
Going forward, Alvarez instead will have a fixed salary with a higher total value, $1.55 million when the lump-sum payout is included.
