Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez happy with Chryst's first season

San Diego — A little more than one year after he lured Paul Chryst away from Pittsburgh and back to Wisconsin, UW athletic director Barry Alvarez believes the football program he rebuilt in the 1990s is again in good hands.

Alvarez has watched Chryst and his staff closely this season, and although the Badgers (9-3) lost critical home games to Iowa and Northwestern and thus failed to win the Big Ten West Division title, he has been impressed by the work of the new staff.

"I think they have really worked well together, made an easy adjustment," Alvarez said this week as he watched UW prepare to face Southern Cal (8-5) in the Holiday Bowl at 9:30 p.
