Wide receiver gives oral commitment to Wisconsin

Madison — Wisconsin received an oral commitment Friday from its second wide receiver for the 2016 freshman class.

Quintez Cephus, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior from Macon, Ga., chose UW over Georgia Tech.

Cephus is the 21st known commitment for UW's '16 class.

What makes Cephus' decision intriguing is that he initially committed to Furman — to play basketball.

UW convinced him football was a more attractive option.

Cephus played quarterback at Stratford Academy but switched to wide receiver and recorded 31 catches for 692 yards and 12 touchdowns through his team's first nine games this season.
