The Wisconsin Badgers got some brutal news ahead of the season, as head coach Luke Fickell revealed that James Thompson Jr. likely sustained a season-ending injury in practice last week, depleting the team’s depth along the defensive line.
Thompson, a redshirt senior, was expected to return as a starter and be the face of the defensive line this season, but will now miss four to five months after undergoing surgery last week.
With him out and the Badgers already facing questions at the position, what is the team’s plan at defensive line?
“To be honest with you, through fall camp, I would say we were going to go six deep at D-Line,” Fickell said about the team’s depth at the position.
