The No. 9 University of Wisconsin women’s volleyball team (2-2) struggled at the HotelRED Invitational this past week, falling to No. 7 Marquette and No. 5 Baylor on back-to-back nights at the UW Field House.
Despite entering the week ranked No. 4, the Badgers were unable to defend home court against in-state rival Marquette (5-1).
In 20 previous matchups with the Golden Eagles, the Badgers never lost. That all changed Thursday when the Badgers fell in five sets, 25–22, 25–22, 27–29, 30–32, 9–15. Despite winning the first two sets, Wisconsin dropped the final three en route to their first-ever loss to Marquette.
