Madison — Vitto Brown wants to be known as more than a crooner who also happens to play basketball for the University of Wisconsin.
Brown's voice is so smooth, so soothing that he was asked to join three other student athletes in singing the national anthem before the first national semifinal last season.
The performance was a slam dunk for Brown, a baritone who along with several family members makes up the gospel group "Shades of Brown."
UW, which held is annual media day Thursday, has to replace front-court starters Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker and three other key players from last season's national runner-up team.
