Arlington, Texas — Four plays into its opener against No. 3-ranked Alabama on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium, Wisconsin lost one of its tougher and more indispensable players:
Safety Michael Caputo.
Alabama faced a third and 1 from its 29-yard line when tailback Derrick Henry gained 3 yards and a first down. Caputo initially stayed in the game for the next play but appeared headed to the Alabama huddle. The officials whistled play dead and the fifth-year senior was escorted to the UW sideline.
Sophomore D'Cota Dixon came in for Caputo, who missed the next three plays as UW forced a punt.
