UW men's hockey team earns sweep of Arizona State

Madison — Forgive the UW men's hockey team if it has forgotten how to celebrate a sweep.

The Badgers edged Arizona State, 2-1, at the Kohl Center on Saturday night for their first sweep since the 2013-'14 season.

After a 5-1 victory on Friday night, the Badgers (2-3-3) wasted little time taking a lead Saturday. Jedd Soleway scored on a rebound just 3:57 into the game, with Patrick Sexton and Seamus Malone being credited with assists.

The Badgers peppered Sun Devils goaltender Ryland Pashovitz with 12 shots in the opening frame.

Arizona State (4-5), which is in its inaugural season of NCAA Division I hockey, notched an equalizer goal from Jordan Masters with 5:53 left in the second period.
