Madison— The Wisconsin Badgers hockey team wilted under the freshmen onslaught that Denver threw at them in a 6-2 loss on Saturday night at the Kohl Center.
The Pioneers (7-3-2), who saw five of their six goals come courtesy of first-year players, put the Badgers (3-5-4) in a hole by scoring twice in the first period.
By the time Wisconsin finally got on the board on Tim Davison's power-play goal at 17:10 of the second period, Denver had already added two more goals to its sheet.
Jack Linhart's goal at 19:12 of the second appeared to give the Badgers some momentum heading into the second intermission.
