Students all over the UW-Madison campus already use the photo-sharing service Snapchat -- now two university institutions are joining them on the popular smartphone app.
The UW Athletic Department and the UW-Madison Police Department both announced on Thursday they had joined the service, with the usernames officialbadgers and uwmadisonpolice, respectively.
The athletics account has featured behind-the-scenes looks at Badger football fall camp and media day, while the first snaps from UW police have focused on their K9, Odin.
UWPD spokesman Marc Lovicott said joining the service -- which according to the media analysis firm comScore trails only Facebook and Insagram in its popularity with young smartphone users -- will help the department build relationships with the campus community.
