Unlikely postseason push underway for Badgers men’s hockey

What seemed bleak just over a month ago has become something we need to talk about. And that is the Wisconsin Badgers men’s hockey team playing their way into what would presumably be a postseason position if the season were to end today barring any surprise conference tournament champions.

You read that correctly. Following a 2-8 to start the season and despite a record currently below .500, the Badgers sit at 17th in the USCHO rankings and come in 16th in the PairWise. The surge is largely due to a 17-game stretch in which Wisconsin has not lost a game in regulation dating back to November 8th, including wins over Michigan State, Michigan, and a Holiday Face-Off tournament win.
