Wisconsin had its moments against Stanford, but errors in serve receive that plagued the Badgers in the first two matches reared their ugly head again in key moments as the No. 5 Stanford Cardinal (2-0) leave the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers (0-3) winless with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25) win in Milwaukee.
Similar to the last match against Texas, UW had a chance to close out the first set with a win. The Badgers had three set points up 24-21 after freshman setter Charlie Fuerbringer helped run a balanced attack in the opening set.
Senior CC Crawford, who was in the starting line up for the first time this season, was a key figure in the opening set as it looked like it was a key to feed the middles in the opening set.
