Redshirt freshman quarterback Clayton Thorson isn't a polished passer, with a completion rate of 52.6% and as many interceptions (six) as touchdown passes. But he is big (6 feet 4 inches and 220 pounds) and fast and has rushed for 360 yards and a team-high five touchdowns. He combines with sophomore tailback Justin Jackson (1,033 yards) to cause problems for defensive coordinators trying to take away the Wildcats' running game.
Whereas Jackson is a punishing runner who picks up the tough yards, junior tailback Warren Long provides big-play ability because of his speed. Long has only 47 carries but averages 6.
