Madison — Zander Neuville was a multisport star at Waupaca High School.
A stud.
He was an all-state football player; an all-Eastern Valley Conference basketball player; and a captain in football, basketball and baseball as a senior.
Not long after joining the Wisconsin football program — as a walk-on — Neuville learned a painful but valuable lesson.
Those accomplishments weren't going to help him earn playing time and/or a scholarship at UW.
"It is like night and day," said Neuville, who carried 225 pounds on his 6-foot-5 frame when he arrived on campus last summer.
