Phil Longo began the conversation late Thursday morning inside the McClain Center by talking about a Ferrari. The man now steering the University of Wisconsin football team’s offense arrives in Madison with a history of producing fast-moving and high-scoring units that, yes, can be compared to watching a beautiful sports car when things are humming.
But that’s not where Longo was going with his comparison. He was asked about how people see the words “Air Raid” — the name of the offense he’s bringing to the Badgers — and automatically assume UW is trading in its successful running attack for an upgrade that will include passing, passing and more passing.
