In his first year with the University of Wisconsin, wrestling coach Chris Bono is due to earn more than double the base salary of former coach Barry Davis.
Bono will make $250,000 in annual base salary on a three-year contract he signed March 24. The contract was released Friday in response to an open records request.
According to the most recent available contract, Davis was making a $107,467 annual base salary with the Badgers.
Bono, 44, took South Dakota State to a 12th-place finish at the 2018 NCAA championship and had one of his athletes, Seth Gross, win a national title.
