Kenosha's Trae Waynes, Melvin Gordon taken in first round

Madison— Two more standouts from Kenosha Bradford High School are off to the National Football League.

Trae Waynes, an 2011 all-state performer for Bradford as a senior and a two-year starter at Michigan State, was the first cornerback taken in the 2015 NFL draft on Thursday in Chicago.

Waynes was selected No. 11 overall by the Minnesota Vikings.

He is the second Bradford player selected in the first round. The first was running back Alan Ameche, who won the Heisman Trophy for Wisconsin in 1954 and was the No. 3 pick in the 1955 NFL draft.
