Keeping defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was important, UW's Chryst says

Madison — Perhaps the most important decision Paul Chrystmade not long after agreeing to leave Pittsburgh and return to Wisconsin as head football coach was to retain Dave Aranda as UW's defensive coordinator.

During his first two seasons at UW, Aranda impressed athletic director Barry Alvarez. Chryst knew of Aranda's résumé and knew he could be a vital bridge in the transition between the old and new staffs.

Chryst reiterated the importance of that hire Wednesday during a teleconference featuring the Big Ten West Division coaches and select players.
