Iowa’s Caitlin Clark wins 2024 ESPY for best Women’s College Athlete, beating Sarah Franklin, others

Former Iowa Hawkeyes and current Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark won the 2024 ESPY for being the women’s college athlete this year during the award show on Thursday, marking a historic year for the basketball star.

She was one of four nominees, including Wisconsin outside hitter Sarah Franklin, LSU gymnast Haleigh Bryant, and Northwestern lacrosse’s Izzy Scane.

Franklin, a revelation for the Badgers this past season, was a huge part of Wisconsin’s overall success, as she won three Player of the Year awards: Big Ten, AVCA Northeast Region, and AVCA National Player of the Year.
