The Wisconsin Badgers started off their season with a 28-14 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos in a game that was competitive from start to finish, despite the former being a 24-point favorite over the latter prior to the game.
Offensively, the Badgers didn’t develop much of a downfield passing game, as quarterback Tyler Van Dyke tossed for 196 yards on 21/36 passing, with 102 of those coming after the catch. But, they churned yards through the running game thanks to Tawee Walker and Chez Mellusi, who combined for 140 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
