The contract extension keeping WIAA state championship events at University of Wisconsin facilities through 2033 changed the rental fee structure and added a chance for the university to propose new costs halfway through the deal.
The eight-year extension for seven championships, announced Feb. 25 and obtained via a public records request, added a base rental fee the WIAA must pay to the university for events at the Kohl Center and Field House in addition to a percentage of ticket revenue that is generated.

The base fees totaled $357,000 per year for events at Camp Randall Stadium (football), the Kohl Center (boys basketball and individual wrestling), the Field House (team wrestling) and Goodman Diamond (softball).
