The Wisconsin Badgers will play host to their third in-state opponent of the season Wednesday when the Green Bay Phoenix come to town. The game will be the first for the Badgers since Bo Ryan retired, marking Wisconsin’s head coaching debut for Greg Gard.
The last time the Badgers took the floor at the Kohl Center, Wisconsin pulled off what seemed like a rather insignificant 64-49 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi. What happened after the game, though, was anything but insignificant.
Bo Ryan retired and the Badgers announced Greg Gard would become the team’s interim head coach, ending the career of one of the best coaches in Big Ten history.
