MEQUON — At one point Wednesday, Gabby Curtis looked as if she was finally coming back to the field at the Wisconsin Women's State Open.
Instead, the University of Wisconsin golfer spent most of the back nine at North Shore Country Club pulling away from the 48 other golfers to complete a wire-to-wire victory.
Curtis played those final eight holes in 2-under-par to shoot a 1-over 73 in the final round and win the 36-hole gathering of the state's top professional and amateurs for the first time by seven shots over former Badger Kris Yoo (72) with a 3-under total of 141.
