Former Badgers QB Tyler Van Dyke transfers to SMU, reunites with former OC Rhett Lashlee

Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has a new home, as the graduate transfer is heading to the SMU Mustangs for his final season of eligibility.

Van Dyke, a multi-year starter at Miami before transferring to Wisconsin, is heading to his third and final destination, re-uniting with a familiar face: SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee.

Lashlee was Van Dyke’s offensive coordinator back in 2021 at Miami, when the quarterback had his breakout season, throwing for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions en route to being named the ACC Rookie of the Year.

At SMU, Van Dyke provides experience to a room that lost quarterback Preston Stone, who transferred to Northwestern after losing his starting job earlier in the season.
